1) Amethyst is a violet (violet or purple) variant of the mineral quartz and is used for decorative purposes as a gemstone.<\/p>\n

It starts life as transparent quartz but when it is found in places in the Earth’s mantle where high temperatures and pressures develop, it turns purple. Of course, depending on the variety of the stone, the purple can reach the limits of black, while in another cut it can appear completely colourless.Its name comes from the abstract “a” and the verb “to get drunk” (mitho), as in ancient times it was believed that this stone protected its owner from drunkenness!In ancient times it was one of the rarest and most valuable stones and its price often equaled or exceeded that of a diamond! The price of this stone fell when huge deposits of it were discovered in South America.Amethyst is said to be the stone of meditation.<\/p>\n

2) Quartz is a silicon mineral, specifically pure silica, the second most abundant mineral in nature.<\/div>\n
-The name comes from the word “halaza” because of the similarity of the color of the common chalazia with hail.<\/div>\n
-It is known internationally as “Quartz”, a term derived from the old German word “Quarz”, of unknown etymology.<\/div>\n
-The different varieties of chalazia are named after their colour or form.<\/div>\n

3) Aquamarine is a blue-green variant of the beryllium.<\/div>\n
Its name means “sea water” because of its colour.<\/div>\n
