Handmade silver ring with coloured hematite (Hemitat) from the series Rosario.
-Hematite is a mineral, which in its chemical composition is iron oxide.It is an opaque mineral, has a metallic luster and a gray-silver to black color.
-The name has Greek origin and is due not to the color of the mineral, which is dark gray, but to the color of the gram of powder (the powder when rubbed), which is red, i.e. the color of blood.
-It has been used in jewellery making since 3000 BC.
-The Egyptians carved scarabs on Hematite, also known to the Cretans, the Mycenaeans and the ancient Greeks.
-It is a typical mineral found in iron mines and is found in many areas of the world.
