Handmade silver earrings with black agate from the series Spiral Exagono Mikro.
-Ahate belongs to the tectosilicate minerals. It is considered a mineral in the varieties of chalcedony (microcrystalline form of quartz) and occurs in various colours, the main one being white. In all its colours, however, it is translucent.
-According to Theophrastus, the Greeks named this mineral after the river Agate (now Drilio) of Sicily where they found it.
-The Agate was highly valued as an amulet in antiquity. Also, agate goblets were very popular in the Byzantine Empire and during the Renaissance by the aristocrats of the time.
