PROPER PRESERVATION OF JEWELLERY

Jewellery expresses aspects of our personality. It always tells a story about our taste, our temperament, about who we are. It is important to know that they are like living organisms that are affected by elements of the environment.

Metallaxis promises you that if you take care of your jewellery in the following ways you will have no problems in terms of colour, shine and durability:

1. We avoid sleeping with our jewellery regardless of its durability.
2. We wear our jewellery only after using cosmetics, hand and body creams and even our perfume because they noticeably affect their shine.
3. In domestic or gardening work and sports, we prefer not to wear our jewellery because it will be damaged due to its sensitivity to impacts or chemicals that may be present in various household detergents or even sweat.
4. When we are not wearing our jewellery, we carefully store them in separate boxes or in small bags to reduce friction between them.
5. Silver is easily oxidized if it comes into contact with fresh or salt water. If we want to preserve their colour and shine, remember that we never wear the jewellery in the bath or in the sea.

CLEANING OF JEWELLERY

All metallaxis silver jewellery is plated or gold plated. The gilding and plating is a thin layer of gold or platinum respectively, on the silver.
The colour of the plating wears off over time and we cannot avoid this wear, only slow it down.
Silver oxidizes over time, causing it to turn black. This natural process is due to its contact with the atmosphere.
Follow the instructions of metallaxis and clean your favorite necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants, pendants whether they have precious or semi-precious stones.
So, when you want to restore the shine to your silver jewellery there is a very simple procedure that you can perform yourself at home, as long as you have baking soda at your disposal.

• In a bowl, pour 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda, add a few drops of water and mix with your hands or a toothbrush until it becomes a creamy mixture.
• Then gently rub your silver jewelry with the soda mixture, rinse it in water and dry it very well with a hair dryer to remove any trace of moisture that is known to cause oxidation in silver jewelry.

Every one to two years and depending on their use, you should contact a specialized workshop/jewelry store for professional cleaning, polishing or plating of your jewelry when it has suffered natural wear.
