-Corneol is a reddish-brown mineral commonly used as a semi-precious stone.
-It is a variety of chalcedony stone of a mineral containing silica, coloured with iron oxide.
The colour of Cornelius varies widely from light orange to intense, almost black.
-Corneolite was preserved in the Minoan layers of the Bronze Age in Knossos, Crete, in a form that proves that it was used in decorative arts (1800 BC).
-Corneol was widely used during Roman times in the creation of gemstone vessels for sealing rings used to impress a seal in wax on correspondence.
-The word Corneol comes from the Latin caro = flesh, because of its colour. Corneol is often confused with sardio. One can argue without serious error that it is the same material where sardios is the Greek name, and corneol is the Latin name.
-There are currently sightings in India, Sri Lanka, Brazil and Uruguay.
-Corneol is considered a stone of self-respect and self-confidence.
