-Japhrite is a mineral of calcium, magnesium and silicon, a variant of the amphibole group of actinolite.Together with jadeite they are called jasper (Jade).

-From archaeological research, jades are said to be known since antiquity and even in Europe from the Neolithic era, but also in Asian countries (China), the Southeast. Asia, South Asia, South East Asia, in Pacific islands, as well as their use was also known, but it remains unknown how they were named.

-The modern name comes from the ancient Greek as “kidney stone” which is thought to have been given either by the colour of the “kidney stones” or as a therapeutic use against the above.From the Greek the Romans called it “lapis nephriticus”.

-Jade was most associated with the Chinese Empire (“Jade”) as it was believed to be the stone of the Gods and immortality.If gold and diamonds have some value to Western culture, “Jade” has infinitely greater value to the Chinese.The Chinese have been worshipping this stone for 5,000 years.Confucius said that it has 11 virtues including beauty, purity and indulgence.In the Chinese language, the words referring to beauty and higher moral values have “yu” as their constituent.These minerals were also used for ornamentation and for religious purposes by the pre-Columbian Central American peoples.

-Jade is green-grey in colour and opaque. Jadeite is more intense green in colour and shows a degree of transparency.Jadeite deposits are found in California,Myanmar,New Zealand,Guatemala and Jade deposits in Canada,China and New Zealand.
